Legionella Risk Assessment Edinburgh Short Term Lets

Updated: Sep 23

The Scottish Government now state on their website that a Legionella Risk Assessment has to be carried out for short term licencing. Previously they never requested a Legionella Risk Assessment to be carried out prior to applying for a short-term let licence in Scotland

Short term lets would include, Home Letting, Home Sharing, Secondary Letting and Home Letting and Home Sharing.

Please find link below to Scottish Government website stating short term lets now require a Legionella Risk Assessment to be carried out

The Health & Safety Executive state if a tenant were to contract Legionnaires' disease from the water system in their home, the landlord may be liable to prosecution under HSWA, and would have to demonstrate to a court that they had fulfilled their legal duty, so it is important that they assess and control the risks.

The first steps to prevent this from happening would be to carry out a Legionella Risk Assessment. We can attend your short term let property and carry out a Legionella Risk Assessment for you helping you to stay compliant. Just email us on lothianpattesting@mail.com if you want to arrange your Legionella Risk Assessment in Edinburgh & Lothians.
